My Approach to Branding Strategy, Marketing and Comms
Starting out as a 20-year old intern at Booz Allen Hamilton, I had a keen interest in data analysis, policy formulation and strategic communications. So I dove into the deep end of the pool, working in federal government contracting at USPS headquarters, National Institute of Health and various US intelligence and defense agencies. From those earliest days, my communication and collaboration skills have been an essential part of my success.
Technical and Analytical Foundation
From the beginning I’ve developed a unique ability to synthesize complex information, guide decision-making processes and enhance organizational efficacy. For nearly a decade, I delivered client-ready materials and briefings to US defense and intelligence leadership. I’ve drafted content for the President’s Daily Brief and for the Director of National Intelligence.
I thrive and excel in roles that demand high-level synthesis of data and analytics, for senior military and civilian leaders. I’ve briefed leaders on the “so what” of reports. I understand the value of experience and trusting one’s gut – while backing recommendations with solid numbers.
Going Deeper
At Booz Allen Hamilton, I dramatically influenced the proposal management process, securing a significant win rate for high-value submissions and I ran all must-win FEDSIM proposals.
From there, as Director of Proposals at Phase One Consulting Group, I drove an 80% win rate, underlining strategic and operational excellence in proposal management and marketing. That effort culminated in the successful acquisition of the company by Accenture Federal Services.
Proven Success with a Variety of Organizations
After six years as Senior Manager at Accenture Federal Services, I worked with Groundswell leadership on their architectural design and execution of business development methodologies, significantly enhancing decision-making and strategic planning.
As part of a three company merger, I oversaw successful integration and branding initiatives that have positioned Groundswell as a leader in the Federal IT space. I have also developed and executed the comprehensive digital and social media strategy that has amplified Groundswell’s market presence and thought leadership.
My Core Values
One step at a time.
Like the little boy lost in the woods, whenever I am faced with a new – and often, daunting – challenge, I believe that before taking any first step, I look at what’s around me, present now. While you can’t take the whole forest in at once, you need to assess where you’re at, then commit to that first step. And the next.
Learn by doing.
President Barack Obama has said: “The most important advice I give to young people is… just learn how to get stuff done. I’ve seen at every level, people who are very good at describing problems, people who are very sophisticated in describing why things went wrong or why something can’t be fixed. But what I am always looking for is, no matter how small the problem or how big it is, somebody who always says: ‘Let me take care of that.’”
Optimism is more efficient and more effective.
Instead of “no because” change the narrative to: “yes, if.”
Integrity above all else.
I’ve always done my best when I’ve followed the best people, the ones I believe in, the ones whose compass always points North.
The Next Phase
Today I’m looking for a new challenge to help implement innovative strategies and solutions for a future-focused organization. My commitment to the federal mission and understanding of the operational landscape make me an ideal candidate to nurture growth.
I believe all of this work depends on committed collaboration – whether it’s integrating companies post-acquisition or streamlining growth operations across diverse business units. Working together, we can elevate brand presence and engage critical stakeholders effectively.
